Aulla

HELLO, MY NAME IS AULLA HAMDEH AND I AM IN MY JUNIOR YEAR AS A MECHANICAL ENGINEERING MAJOR. MY GOAL IN ASME IS TO CREATE AN ENVIRONMENT WHERE ENGINEERING MAJORS ARE ABLE TO SPREAD THEIR WINGS AND BECOME MORE INVOLVED ON CAMPUS. IT IS IMPORTANT TO ME THAT MECHANICAL ENGINEERS HAVE AN OUTLET WHERE THEY CAN FIND WHAT THEY ARE TRULY PASSIONATE ABOUT AND USE IT TO THEIR ADVANTAGE. ONE OF MY MAJOR INTERESTS INCLUDES FIRST ROBOTICS, WHICH IS WHERE MY INTEREST IN ENGINEERING AND INNOVATION FIRST SPROUTED.

Secretary
Soumil Gupta

Email: sg563@njit.edu
Office Hours: TBD

Soumil

My name is Soumil Gupta and I am a 3rd year Mechanical Engineering student at NJIT. The reason I chose the field of Mechanical Engineering is because it is the broadest branch of engineering, allowing me to use what I learned and expand into other fields of study as well. Upon my graduation I plan to either pursue my Masters in Mechanical Engineering or pursue an MBA in Finance. By joining ASME I hope to promote the Mechanical Engineering major by hosting awesome events around campus for all students to get involved in.

Prior to his appointment at NJIT, he has held positions as instructor and adjunct assistant professor at CCNY, Manhattan College, Pratt Institute and Cooper Union. He has emphasized the use of the Design Project as a valuable tool in translating concepts into reality. With his role as Faculty Advisor with the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), projects from course work have consistently earned top prizes in National Competitions. In the ASME National Student Design Contest alone, NJIT has taken First Place nine times in the last fourteen years. In addition, top finishes have been achieved in the SAE Aero Contest, the SAE Baja Contest and the SAE Formula Contest. Kountouras has been the recipient of a University Excellence-In-Teaching Award as well as a Newark College of Engineering Excellence-In-Advising Award.

Junior Representative
Zohaeb Atiq

Email: @njit.edu
Office Hours: TBD

Zohaeb

I am a third year mechanical engineering student with interests in automotive and aerospace engineering. In addition to ASME, I am an E-board member of The Vector and the Student Activities Council, where I hold the positions of Business Manager and Programmer, respectively. When I'm not studying or working alongside my peers in extracurriculars, I like to play basketball and work on cars. In addition, I enjoy photography and traveling, and hope to one day travel the world. In terms of my engineering philosophy, I like to focus on efficiency and packaging, taking into consideration costs and weight penalties associated with the use of one type of material over another.
